Meter Change-Out

The City of Kandiyohi would like to inform residents that beginning April 15, 2026, water and sewer billing will begin transitioning to be billed directly by the City of Kandiyohi.

This transition will occur as water/sewer meters are replaced throughout the community. Until your meter has been replaced, billing will continue through Kandiyohi Power Cooperative (KPC).

During the transition period, please continue paying your water and sewer bills through KPC until you begin receiving bills directly from the City of Kandiyohi. Once City billing begins for your account, payments should be made directly to the City as indicated on your bill. Any remaining balance on your KPC account will still need to be paid directly to KPC.

As part of this process, the City will be replacing existing water/sewer meters with new meters. When your meter has been replaced, your account will be switched over to billing through the City of Kandiyohi.

For your first City bill, a portion of your water and sewer usage for that billing period (recorded on the old meter) will be billed by Kandiyohi Power Cooperative (KPC). The remaining usage for that same billing period (recorded on the new meter) will be billed by the City of Kandiyohi, along with the full water base fee and full sewer base fee for that month.

If a portion of your usage for that billing period is billed by KPC, you will not be charged the water and sewer base fees on your final KPC bill. Base fees will only be charged by the City of Kandiyohi, ensuring residents are only charged one set of base fees for that month. There will be no prorated base fee, as the full base fees will be included on your City bill for that billing cycle.

Under the City’s billing system, the meter reading cycle will run from the 1st of the month through the end of the month, with utility bills typically mailed around the 15th of each month for the prior month’s usage. Payments will be due on the 5th of the following month.

At this time, no immediate action is required. Residents will be notified if any updates or information are needed for their account.

The City appreciates your patience as we work to make this transition as smooth as possible. If you have any questions, please contact the Kandiyohi City Office at 320-382-6110 or [email protected].
